SARI are one of 12 development through football organisations worldwide chosen by internationally acclaimed artist Vik Muniz to benefit from a fundraising campaign around the release of his new film ‘This Is Not a Ball’.

Vik Muniz was born in Sao Paulo, 1961. Growing up in the political turbulence of 1970's Brazil, he used his art to communicate what he was not allowed to say. Moving to New York shortly after he was shot whilst trying to break up a fight, he began his pursuit of becoming an artist.

Combining different art forms to question social perceptions and images Muniz, although not interested in playing sport, understood the raw power which it wielded in society. In the film Muniz journeys across continents studying psychology, astrophysics, poetry and neuroscience to understand humanity's obsession with the ‘beautiful game' of football.

'This Is Not a Ball', in connection with streetfootballworld, empowers social change through sport. In conjunction with this film, Muniz also founded the #PassTheBall initiative.
