Outcome of the FAI disciplinary committee Racist Incident Shamrock Rovers V's Bohemians FC

Des Tomlinson FAI Intercultural Football Programme National Coordinator contacted SARI by email to inform them of the outcome of the Disciplinary Committee with regards to the charge made against Shamrock Rovers of alleged Racist abuse towards Joe Ndo at a 2009 League of Ireland Premiere Division Match between Shamrock Rovers FC and Bohemians FC on Friday October 2nd 2009.

 

As outlined Shamrock Rovers were charged under Rules 89 (Racism) and 102 (Spectator Conduct). Reference code NCO-1698... The Disciplinary Committee comprising of Mr Anthony Calahan ( chairperson), Mr John Kane (Football) and Mr Gerry McAnaney ( Council). Following consideration of the evidence before it  and submissions made by Shamrock Rovers at the oral hearing held on the 21st October 2009 the committee is not satisfied that there is conclusive evidence before it to warrant a sanction arising out of the alleged incident.

The committee has noted Shamrock Rovers efforts in this area and strongly encourages the development of anti –racism policies in all clubs.
