Football For Hope Festival 2010

SARI are one of 32 NGOs from around the world selected to participate in the Football For Hope Festival at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa this summer. The Football For Hope Festival will be officially launched on Friday 26th March at 3 Square, Alexandra Township, Johannesburg

At the heart of the Football For Hope Festival 2010 will be a football tournament to celebrate the social dimension of the game. The tournament will bring together 32 teams from across the world each featuring 4 girls and 4 boys and will be played during the final week of the FIFA World Cup in Alexandra, Johannesburg.

Football For Hope is a movement that uses the power of the game for positive social change. It is led by FIFA and Streetfootballworld, a centre of excellence that connects a global network of organisations in the field of development through football.

"The Football For Hope Festival will be a unique opportunity for organisations using football as a tool for social development in every part of the world to interact with each other and to showcase their programmes on football's biggest stage - the 2010 FIFA World Cup," said FIFA President Sepp Blatter. "We look forward to welcoming them to South Africa and experiencing together how football is contributing to building a better future."

SARI are currently in the process of selecting their participants and fundraising for the trip to South Africa.

Updates to follow.
