RACISM IN SPORT
As a social enterprise dedicated to fighting racism through the medium of sport, SARI calls for an immediate move to implement the EU White Paper on Sport. Central to the move will be the insertion of an Equality, Anti-discrimination and Diversity clause in the Constitutions of Sports bodies.
The current reality is that racism is a problem in society and as sports practitioners are part of society, the scourge will inevitably be imported onto the playing fields. Along with National Governing Bodies of Sport, clubs, associations and members also have a responsibility to stop the hate by their actions and by agreeing to anti-discrimination clauses in their sports contracts.
