Match Abandoned

A boys football game was abandoned on Sunday 7th February to protect a player who, it is alleged, suffered racist abuse.

The U15 game, played at Marlay Park last Sunday between Broadford B and Brookfield, was called to a halt when the Broadford coaching staff informed the referee that their team was leaving the field of play in order to protect one of their players. As per the guidelines of the FAI Intercultural Plan, the incident was reported to the Garda and South Dublin Football League. The referee's report, in this case, will be crucial to the action to be taken by the FAI. A full report on the incident and the outcomes will be requested by SARI at the next delegate meeting of the Football Intercultural Advisory Group.
