The annual Tesco Mobile Sport Against Racism Ireland (SARI) Soccerfest has today been ‘kicked off’ by Brian Kerr and Gary Cooke at an event in Dublin. Tesco Mobile SARI Soccerfest is Europe’s biggest 7-a-side intercultural soccer tournament and will take place this weekend the 14th &15th of September at the Phoenix Park, Dublin.

The SARI Soccerfest, supported by Tesco Mobile Ireland, works with minority communities to promote cultural integration and social development in Irish life through sport.  This year the tournament will be the biggest ever as 56 Men's, Women's and Under-13 teams tackle racism, challenge discrimination and promote dignity and respect for all.

Karen Halpin, Marketing Manager of Tesco Mobile Ireland, has called on families, football fans and anyone keen on a fun weekend to come to the event. "Tesco Mobile Ireland is thrilled to be once more working with SARI for the Soccerfest.  This is the biggest intercultural soccer tournament in Europe and great credit should go to all the organisers and the participants. It's been a disappointing week for Irish football's world cup hopes so what better way to get over that than for all the football fans across the country and their families to come up to the Phoenix Park and see the super soccer skills on show!"

Brian Kerr, Director of SARI said: "We are very grateful to Tesco Mobile Ireland for their support of SARI through the Tesco Mobile SARI Soccerfest.  Sport is an important means of communicating the messages of inclusion and integration and this weekend I look forward to seeing lots of people enjoying the beautiful game."

Some of the highlights of the weekend festival will include the All Stars celebrity match starting at 2pm on Saturday 14th, where Eoin McDevitt goes head to head in a battle of soccer tactics with Ireland's U21 International manager Noel King in an All Stars challenge match refereed by former Arsenal and Ireland player John Devine.

Admission to the two day festival is free and there will be a wide variety of entertainment for all the family with face painting, clowns, juggling and drumming workshops, as well as the Soccerfest Skills Challenge highlighting the Millennium Development Goals.
